In the Department of Ophthalmology, we teach fourth-year students all aspects of eye diseases and their treatments through theoretical lectures, discussion sessions, and clinical training in specialized clinics and hospitals.
Description
The Department of Ophthalmology was established in the 2019-2020 academic year and is considered one of the most important departments in the clinical phase of medical education. The educational process began with the collaboration of faculty members from the Department of Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tripoli. Ophthalmology is taught in the third phase (fourth year) of medical education.

Providing exceptional education to fourth-year students in Ophthalmology to enable them to contribute effectively to the diagnosis and treatment of various eye diseases.
Goals
Introduction to Common Eye Diseases: Familiarize students with common eye diseases and proper management techniques.
Visual Acuity and Examination Techniques: Train students in measuring visual acuity, assessing light reflection on the cornea, and examining the eyelids.
Diagnosis of Eye Conditions: Equip students with skills to identify and diagnose diseases of the cornea, conjunctiva, lacrimal sac, and retina.
Eye Movements and Strabismus: Provide training on evaluating eye movements and ocular muscles, and understanding the causes of strabismus (eye misalignment).
Correlation with Systemic Conditions: Develop students' ability to link eye diseases with neurological and internal medicine conditions.
Basic Therapeutic Techniques: Train students in performing basic therapeutic procedures and managing emergency situations.
